River Kristian

River is an emerging multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto. They work primarily in graphite, acrylic, and photography, working with figuration and portrait, as well as natural and industrial landscapes. Thematically River explores themes around, mental health, humanity, and the mundane; drawing inspiration from everyday life experiences. River uses the aesthetic of vintage flash and polaroid photography to challenge the way that we see the world through the photograph in relation to real life. River also explores the natural world through bright colours, showing off what we may not always see in nature. River has had works presented in “Face Off” (2024), “Neighbourly” (2025), and “Colours Within” (2025), “Gradex” (2026), and has also had works that have been featured in “KBI Inspire” Magazine.
